The Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival has kicked off at The Q, with a series of exciting events lined up. The Carnival, featuring seven meetings with nearly $3 million in prize money, promises thrilling races for greyhound enthusiasts.

Headlining the Carnival is the prestigious $1 million Group 1 Brisbane Cup on July 5, offering a massive $650,000 to the winner. Running alongside is the Group 1 Queensland Cup with a total prize pool of $262,500, catering to stayers over the 710-meter distance.
To add more excitement, winners of designated lead-up events stand a chance to win a $10,000 bonus if they clinch a heat in either the Brisbane Cup or Queensland Cup. The stakes are high, making the competition fierce and rewarding.
The Carnival also features the $225,000 Flying Amy Classic at Group 1 level, marking a significant event at The Q. Additionally, the Group 2 Cyndie’s Magic and Group 3 Dashing Corsair will honor champion Queensland chasers on June 5.
Racing Queensland Acting CEO Lachlan Murray expressed enthusiasm about the Carnival, highlighting its reputation as a premier winter racing event. The collaboration with the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club ensures a diverse range of races for all skill levels and distances.
Following Queensland’s defeat in 2024, the interstate rivalry will reignite at The Q with the Origin Greyhound Series on June 12. The series will feature the Origin Sprint, Origin Distance, and a two-dog match race, offering substantial prize money and showcasing top-tier talent.
QGRC Acting CEO Jason Scott emphasized the significance of hosting the Carnival at The Q, a state-of-the-art racing facility. The event aims to provide an unforgettable experience for attendees, combining thrilling races with top-notch entertainment and dining options.
Expanding in 2025, the QGOLD evening will feature two key meetings to kick off the Winter Carnival. Born and bred Queensland greyhounds will compete for over $230,000 in prize money across eight races, adding more excitement to the racing calendar.
The $107,825 Super Stayers Invitational, maintaining its Group 2 status, will draw long-distance chasers from across the nation to The Q. To be eligible for events at The Q, greyhounds must meet specific criteria, ensuring fair and competitive races.
